Aiko Shimouchi

Message

My name is Aiko Shimouchi. I am based in Paris, where I work in both music and film. Nothing brings me greater joy than connecting with audiences through song.

On stage, I strive to delight listeners with a wide-ranging repertoire—from familiar favorites to hidden gems—spanning musicals, film music, chanson, opera arias, and art songs. While classical vocal music is often seen as highbrow, I aim to make it more approachable by adding simple staging or brief explanations, helping audiences feel a closer connection to the music.

I look forward to sharing my music with you.

Artist Biography

A soprano singer based in Paris, I spent my childhood in London and Manila, and lived in Kobe from the age of 10 through my university graduation. I began studying piano at six, and in junior high became passionate about theatre, which inspired me to pursue voice with the dream of becoming a musical actress.

I graduated from Osaka College of Music with a major in vocal performance, developing a deep interest in French art songs. While still a student, I attended a summer course in France and, on the recommendation of renowned French soprano Mady Mesplé, moved to France immediately after graduation to study under her.

At the conservatory, I trained in voice, dance, and theatre, earning the French National Musician’s Diploma (DEM). I was a finalist in international competitions and won unanimous first prize at the French Song Competition in Gordes, southern France. In 2017, I was awarded a scholarship to Paris Frivole, a professional opera training program, where I studied French Romantic performance practice and received further vocal and theatrical training.

As a vocalist, I perform in opera, operetta, musicals, sacred music as a soprano soloist, and song recitals, with a repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary works. Based in Paris, I have appeared in France, Switzerland, Belgium, and Japan. I have also acted in films, television, and commercials as an Asian actress.

Recent roles include Eurydice in Gluck’s opera Orfeo ed Euridice.

I strive for a pleasant tone and a melody-focused style in all my performances. My goal is to deliver a moving, memorable performance that will leave you feeling glad you chose me. I look forward to the opportunity to perform for you.

Artist Biography

I began playing guitar at the age of 15, inspired by B’z. In high school, I started a cover band playing songs by Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, and others. After graduation, I decided to pursue music professionally and enrolled in an audio engineering college in Osaka. There, I was deeply impressed by the sound of world-class musicians and the work of top engineers, gaining knowledge in PA engineering and sound production.

After graduating, I developed a strong interest in AOR (Album-Oriented Rock) and Adult Contemporary, drawing major inspiration from professional guitarists in Los Angeles and incorporating their influence into my own style.

As a performer, I have supported bands and vocalists at live houses and events throughout the Kansai region, while also forming the group “Roxair” with a vocalist and keyboardist from Europe.

In 2019, I appeared at venues such as Hard Rock Cafe Osaka and View Bar at Kobe Meriken Park Oriental Hotel. My style is characterized by melodious, sophisticated guitar playing and a refined sound balance that enhances the ensemble without overpowering it.

I perform piano music centered on classical repertoire, weaving in improvisations inspired by the four seasons, as well as arrangements of children’s songs and film music. Music is a wonderful tool that can cast a kind of magic over any space. Nothing would make me happier than to add a beautiful touch of color to your memories.

Artist Biography

Graduated from the Piano Department of the Faculty of Music, Arts and Culture Course at Hokkaido University of Education, Sapporo. Former music teacher at Hokkaido Furano High School.

After relocating to Kyoto, I began regularly hosting narrated classical concerts under the concept of “Classical Music Cherished by the Local Community.” Beloved by local audiences, these concerts have been featured in Kyoto regional newspapers, on Kansai TV’s Yo-i Don, and on Kyotopi, and have continued for 10 years to date.

Following my work as a bridal and party pianist—celebrating over 250 couples annually across the Kansai region—I now serve as a music instructor at day service centers under the Kyoto City Council of Social Welfare.

With the aim of reviving the “sing-along” culture lost during the pandemic, I hold Mai-sensei’s Sing-Along Class at various locations throughout Kyoto City, covering genres from classical to pop and film music.
