On July 25, 2025, we had the pleasure of performing at a corporate summer reception held in the chapel on the 28th floor of Waldorf Astoria Osaka. The sunset view from the upper floors overlooking Umeda is a truly luxurious feature unique to this hotel. As the evening light streamed through the expansive glass windows and blended with the Osaka cityscape, the entire venue was bathed in soft shades of orange.
From BanMusic Artist Agency, a six-piece ensemble—featuring vocal, piano, nylon-string guitar, upright bass, drums, and flute—provided live music that complemented the elegant atmosphere of this special evening.
The theme for this event was “High-quality bossa nova background music”
At the round tables set in the center of the venue, seasonal summer flowers and elegantly arranged tableware created a refined setting, where the music gently accompanied the guests’ conversations and the aromas of the cuisine. As seen in the photos, the flutist’s white dress and the vocalist’s vibrant blue outfit stood out beautifully in the soft evening light, further enhancing the hotel’s sense of elegance and escape from the everyday.
The repertoire centered on classic bossa nova standards that evoke the sea breeze of Rio, including “The Girl from Ipanema,” “Chega de Saudade,” and “O Barquinho.” In the latter half of the program, jazz and pop selections such as “Fly Me to the Moon” and “Close to You” were woven in, creating a natural progression that matched the atmosphere of the chapel as the city lights gradually began to sparkle in the evening.
Vocalist Akane Nakagaki’s gentle voice, Takuya Tsutai’s expressive nylon-string guitar, Chiaki Kanamori’s clear and refined piano, and Yuri Sakino’s lyrical flute melodies blended seamlessly with the hotel’s calm, elegant ambiance, drawing warm smiles from guests throughout the evening.
