Professional Dancer Appears at a Kids’ Dance Event
This event took place at a large shopping center in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, where a kids’ dance showcase was held.
At the client’s request, one professional dancer was invited to perform as the finale of the event, following the children’s dance groups. From our agency, dancer YUKI was selected for this special appearance.
Today, I danced to a ballad.
The genre I performed was completely different from the styles danced by the kids, but if even one of them felt something or was inspired by watching my performance, that alone makes it worthwhile as a dancer.”
— YUKI
Power Center Otsu is a large shopping complex located along the shores of Lake Biwa, approximately 9 minutes by bus from JR Seta Station.
The event took place during the height of Golden Week, and a boat race was being held on Lake Biwa at the same time. Blessed with excellent weather, the conditions were ideal for an outdoor-friendly event atmosphere.
On a lighter note, we were quite surprised at how affordable the supermarket prices inside the mall were compared to Osaka!
The participating children were visibly excited yet nervous from rehearsal onward. Dance instructors from various studios and many parents were present to support them, as the kids prepared in stylish costumes and makeup.
Most of the kids’ dance groups focused on street dance styles, including breakdance, locking, and hip-hop, with each group showcasing its unique strengths and energy.
The Skill of a Professional Dancer
YUKI’s performance was set to a ballad, featuring an expressive and original style rooted in jazz modern dance. For many of the children, this was likely their first time seeing this genre performed live. They watched intently, captivated by each movement and technique. It undoubtedly served as a strong inspiration and valuable boost for young dancers encountering a new form of expression.
