Band Promotional Photography
We visited a studio for an artist photo shoot.
The band we photographed this time was a group assembled on short notice for an upcoming event, led by shamisen player Ogura Seizan. Their musical style goes far beyond traditional shamisen performance, covering a wide range of genres including Western music, blues-based rock, and even classical pieces.

When it comes to artist photography, careful consideration of posing, positioning, and composition is essential. Taking a large number of shots increases the likelihood of capturing something exceptional. However, longer shooting times also lead to fatigue for the artists, so clear and efficient direction is crucial.
To achieve this, it is important to visualize the poses and structure of the shoot in advance. Having a rough plan in mind before the session helps minimize wasted time and allows the shoot to proceed smoothly and efficiently.

The session lasted approximately 60 minutes…
during which we took around 300 photos in total. However, in my experience, only a few shots among them can truly be called “great cuts.” That said, even a single outstanding photo holds immense value—it can be used in many ways regardless of how it is edited, making it extremely versatile and precious.

I believe we were able to capture some truly outstanding shots.
