The Resonance of Classical Orchestral Instruments

クラシカル管弦楽器のしらべ

We were pleased to perform at a banquet held in conjunction with a lecture at the Imperial Hotel.

The instrumental ensemble consisted of a single violin—performed by myself—accompanied by an unusual combination of wind instruments: flute, clarinet, and bassoon. Although this was my first experience with such an instrumentation, the resulting sound resembled that of a string quartet, yet felt warmer and more intimate. The short afterbeats, in particular, produced a charming and delicate tone, making the experience refreshingly unique.

Our program featured a blend of classical works, film music, and traditional Japanese songs. It appeared that the audience was able to relax and fully enjoy this rare and distinctive soundscape. During the performance, an unexpected incident occurred when the E string of my violin broke. However, thanks to the prompt support of fellow musicians and staff, we were able to continue smoothly. Interestingly, the act of changing the string itself was something the audience found unusual and engaging, which added to their enjoyment. As a result, we were able to maintain focus and conclude the performance while fully immersed in both the music and the atmosphere of the venue.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each and every guest who listened so warmly and enthusiastically, as well as to the wonderful wind musicians with whom I had the pleasure of performing.

On this occasion, I am truly grateful for the opportunity to perform. Being able to play in such a beautiful space with a stunning night view, and to share music with so many warm and welcoming guests, was a deeply rewarding experience. Although the audience consisted primarily of gentlemen, they listened with genuine enjoyment and enthusiasm.

I hope to continue offering performances that bring joy to many more people in the future, and I very much look forward to meeting you again.
