Pianist – Advance Preparation
The request was to provide piano accompaniment for a vocal performance at a wedding after-party.
The selected song was “Lion Heart,” with piano accompaniment, and as the reception was scheduled for the evening, the performance took place at Arcenciel Ciel Verite Osaka.
As the venue had a permanently installed piano and the performance was scheduled for the evening, we decided on a soft, intimate piano arrangement.
In advance, we made a simple recording of the accompaniment and shared it with the vocalist. Although there was no rehearsal on the day of the event, providing the recording beforehand allowed the performer to prepare confidently and ensured a smooth performance on the day.
The Performance
Upon arriving at the nearest station, the fireworks from Universal Studios Japan and the dazzling lights stood out beautifully against the winter night sky. Captivated by the festive scenery, I walked on at a relaxed pace and soon caught sight of the sea. With boats floating on the water and shimmering reflections of light, the setting was truly picturesque—the perfect backdrop for the surprise performance of the evening.
As I had not yet heard the singers, I found myself looking forward to how “Lion Heart” would be delivered and what kind of voices would bring the song to life.
After arriving at the venue, I first checked the piano’s touch and was then guided to the waiting room. The white grand piano was absolutely beautiful. The waiting room was comfortably heated, making it perfectly fine to wear light clothing even in December, and it was a spacious, comfortable room where changing clothes posed no problem.
When it was time, I was escorted to the stage. After a few words from friends, the groom and his friend stepped forward and performed the song together, marking the start of a heartfelt and memorable moment.

Both singers delivered beautiful vocals throughout, gently enveloping the guests in a warm and heartfelt atmosphere. Moments of hand clapping and applause arose naturally, and the performance concluded in a relaxed, uplifting mood.
