We were honored to produce a New Year–themed collaborative program featuring a dynamic calligraphy performance paired with live music, creating a powerful and celebratory experience befitting the season.
The two characters “Mushin” (a state of complete focus, free from distracting or intrusive thoughts) and “Futo” (an unshakable, steadfast spirit with firm inner resolve) were selected for this performance.
Two panels, each approximately the size of a tatami mat, were prepared, and the calligraphy was completed live in time with original music composed specifically for this occasion.
During the performance, the calligraphy process was captured on camera and projected onto a large screen, ensuring visibility for guests seated toward the back of the venue. This setup allowed the performance to unfold in a dynamic and immersive manner, with consideration given to the entire audience.

As the calligrapher was the central focus of this program, the musicians conducted thorough rehearsals in advance. Musical pieces were composed to precisely match the time it took the calligrapher to complete each work, and multiple coordination meetings were held to ensure seamless synchronization for the live performance.
The result was a dynamic performance show that successfully fused traditional calligraphy with contemporary music, creating a powerful and memorable experience for the audience.
